Cuba's Oscar hopes relaxation on Padron pic
The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Arts and Industry has selected helmer Ian Padron's feature debut "Habanastation" becasue it is language Oscar hopeful. An honours committee made up of helmers Manuel Perez, Fernando Perez and film editor Manuel Iglesias selected the buddy movie about two boys from contrasting social abilities. Pic won the most effective-of-the-fest award at documaker Michael Moore's Traverse City Film Festival this year. The deadline for nations to deliver in Oscar distribution is Monday.
